The mission of Cari-WOP is to serve as a regional platform to facilitate the sharing and exchange of information and experience and peer-to-peer support between water and sanitation utilities and operators of the Caribbean so as to help them play their full role in delivering and extending quality basic services for all. Cari-WOP was established in 2011 and held its first Steering Committee meeting in 2013.
The permanent Secretariat of Cari-WOP is co-hosted by the two professional water associations in the region: CAWASA and CWWA.
- The Caribbean Water and Sewerage Association (CAWASA), is a regional association of water utilities incorporated under the laws of Saint Lucia, with the responsibility of providing management support, training and certification to its thirteen (13) Member Water Utilities in the Caribbean Islands of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts, Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines and Turks and Caicos Islands. - The Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA), is a regional .organization established by an Act of Parliament in Trinidad & Tobago in 1991. The CWWA is a grouping of professionals in the public and private sectors with a mission to advance the science and practice of water supply, wastewater and solid waste management and promote the efficient management of utilities for the sustainable development of Caribbean people. Its membership extends to individuals, corporate companies as well as utilities and it has strong private sector support. Its office is based at the Headquarters of the Water and Sewerage Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
